Land Surveying is a core service that Skillings provides. We maintain skilled in-house survey crews that provide highly accurate survey projects for survey customers throughout Western Washington state.  Our team includes two Professional Land Surveyors and three crew members. Skillings has the experience to successfully deliver land surveying project.

Skillings’ surveyors play an active role in providing survey services to our clients. Skillings land surveying department is based in Lacey, Washington and travels to projects throughout the state. The department provides surveying and mapping for local roadways, highways, bridges, stormwater, drainage facilities, private and commercial development and more. We pride ourselves in completing time sensitive survey tasks in an efficient and effective manner.

Survey Services

Boundary/Cadastral Survey

Skillings survey team performs numerous boundary and cadastral surveys each year. Retracement of section control and boundary lines are completed with thorough research of existing survey records and title documents. We pride ourselves on knowing the laws and having the experience to make knowledgable decisions on boundary and cadastral surveys.

Legal Descriptions/Easements

Senior level staff have completed 1,000’s of legal descriptions for easements, boundary line adjustments, acquisition, and temporary construction easements.

Right of Way

Skillings survey team has completed certified right of way plans for local jurisdictions and large road construction projects for clients such as Washington State Department of Transportation. We are experienced with plan preparation standards and local agency guidelines.

Topographic Design Surveys

Skillings has provided 100’s of design surveys to in-house engineering staff, property owners, outside consultants, and government agencies. We provide topographic surveys for roadway design, utility design, bridge replacement design and private development design.

Construction Layout and Staking

Skillings survey team has experience with construction staking projects, including setting up horizontal and vertical control for staking projects. The field crews can read and interpret construction plans as needed, when requests are made in the field for staking.

Record of Survey

Skillings has completed hundreds of Records of Survey and monumentations of boundaries throughout Western Washington. Our maps meet or exceed state law for records of survey. Skillings has a strong commitment to our communities. Record of Surveys benefit our clients and abutting owners. We detail our boundary determinations and monuments to help future boundary surveys.

Drone Surveys/Aerial Mapping

Skillings staff is licensed for and experienced with unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) drone surveys for aerial mapping and topographic site design. Survey control aerial targets are set to complete this work. Topographic site design can be done very accurately and efficiently using drone surveys when conditions are open. Skillings also uses drones to provide aerial mapping services to clients for project timeline and preliminary design presentations.

Bathymetric Survey

Skillings provides bathymetric surveys for stream flows and near shore environments. Collecting depths for tidal elevations, depths near marinas and stream depths for bridge and culvert replacements.

Aquatic Survey

The Skillings survey team has experience in aquatic land boundaries.

Skillings offers land surveying services throughout Washington State from our office based in the Olympia/Lacey area. Many of our private residential and commercial land surveying clients are based in Thurston County, Pierce County, Mason County and Lewis County.
